What a beautiful and appropriate display of your Dad's instruments and other related items,George. A trip to the National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota is absolutely on my "must visit" list.
I have done quite a lot of research on the Banjoline recently. I found a one of a kind Fender Banjoline prototype made by Roger Rossmeisl in 1966. I was able to get Rossmeisl's assistant, Phil Kubicki, to confirm this. I just recently placed the item up for sale on ebay, but thought I'd show you the webpage I created documenting my research.
Hi John, Arian Sheets of the NMM emailed me a photo of the instrument and background on your research. I replied to Arian that I couldn't say whether or not my father ever viewed the instrument you have for sale on eBay or if he ever "tried it out". What I could say was that I do not recall ever seeing an instrument of that construction or shape in our home with my father running it through its paces. Oh what a great display George, your Dad would be so proud. I'll put this on my list of "things to do in my lifetime". I am in the process of putting together a new DVD and CD, both of which involve your Dad's former workhorse from 1962 and my "Banjoline". Once it is together I'll send a copy over.
